Get your DocuSign Integration Key

Before connecting anything in CrmLeaf, you need credentials from DocuSign itself - CrmLeaf never stores or manages your DocuSign licence, it connects to your existing account.

Why it matters: the Integration Key and Secret are what let CrmLeaf act on your behalf when sending envelopes. Without them, there's nothing to connect to.
  1. Log into your DocuSign Admin account.
  2. Go to Apps and Keys and select Add App and Integration Key.
  3. Name it "CrmLeaf" and generate a Secret Key.
  4. Add https://app.crmleaf.app/integrations/docusign/callback as a Redirect URI.
  5. Copy the Integration Key and Secret - you'll paste these into CrmLeaf next.
WHAT YOU SEE WHEN DONEWhen done, you'll have an Integration Key, a Secret Key, and a redirect URI configured in DocuSign.

Connect DocuSign in CrmLeaf

With your credentials ready, link your DocuSign account to your CrmLeaf organisation.

Why it matters: this is a one-time authorization - once connected, every user with the right permissions can send documents without individually logging into DocuSign.
  1. In CrmLeaf, go to Settings → Integrations → DocuSign.
  2. Paste in your Integration Key and Secret Key.
  3. Click Connect Account and complete the DocuSign OAuth prompt.
  4. Confirm the green "Connected" status appears on the integration page.
WHAT YOU SEE WHEN DONEThe DocuSign integration page shows "Connected" with your account name.

Choose sandbox or production

Decide whether you're testing the integration or ready to send legally binding envelopes.

Why it matters: Development (sandbox) envelopes are not legally binding and don't count against your DocuSign plan - this is the safe place to test signer routing before going live.
  1. Under Environment, select Development to test.
  2. Send a few test envelopes to yourself to confirm signer fields land correctly.
  3. Once satisfied, switch the toggle to Production.
WHAT YOU SEE WHEN DONEEnvironment is set to Production and ready for real client documents.

Configure document defaults

Decide which document types can be sent for signature, and set sensible defaults so every rep sends consistently.

Why it matters: consistent reminder and expiration rules mean fewer envelopes go stale, and fewer clients need a manual nudge.
  1. Toggle on Contracts and/or Proposals under Document Types.
  2. Set a default reminder interval (for example, every 3 days).
  3. Set a default expiration window (for example, 30 days).
  4. Save your defaults - individual sends can still override them.
WHAT YOU SEE WHEN DONEDocument types, reminders, and expiration are all configured.

Set roles and permissions

Control who can send documents for signature and who can manage the integration itself.

Why it matters: sending authority and admin authority are different things - most teams want every rep to send, but only one or two admins to manage the DocuSign connection.
  1. Go to Roles & Permissions.
  2. Grant Send for Signature to relevant roles (e.g. Sales Rep, Account Manager).
  3. Restrict Manage Integration Settings to Admin roles only.
WHAT YOU SEE WHEN DONEThe right people can send documents; only admins can change the connection.

Send your first envelope

Time to put it to use on a real contract or proposal.

Why it matters: this confirms the full loop - sending, tracking, and auto-updating status - works end to end for your team.
  1. Open any Contract or Proposal record.
  2. Click Send for DocuSign Signature.
  3. Confirm the pre-filled signer and add any additional signers with routing order.
  4. Click Send - DocuSign takes over from here.
  5. Watch the status update on the record as the client views and signs.
WHAT YOU SEE WHEN DONEYour first envelope is sent, and status is visible directly on the record.
