Plan Setup

An installment plan starts from an existing invoice. Enter the four values that define it: the principal (total amount owed), the down payment the client pays upfront, the interest rate on the remaining balance, and the EMI amount for each installment.

CrmLeaf calculates the number of installments from these values and generates the schedule, each installment with its own due date and amount. For interest-free plans, enter a zero interest rate and the balance is divided into equal installments.

If the terms change before collection begins, edit any plan value and the schedule regenerates. Plan values should match the terms agreed with the client before the first installment is collected.

Schedule & Tracking

Once a plan is created, the installment schedule becomes the collection ledger. Each row is one installment with a due date and amount, and moves through paid, partial or overdue as payments come in.

The parent invoice reflects the aggregate: it stays unpaid until the first installment payment is recorded, moves to partial as installments are collected, and reaches paid only when every installment has been fully collected.

Overdue installments are flagged automatically when the due date passes without full payment, so your finance team sees which clients need follow-up without spreadsheet reconciliation.

Built in

  • Each installment tracked with its own due date and amount
  • Three statuses per installment: paid, partial, overdue
  • Automatic overdue detection when the due date passes
  • Parent invoice status syncs with collection progress
  • Schedule view shows collected vs. outstanding at a glance
  • Per-installment due dates
  • Paid / partial / overdue
  • Automatic overdue flagging
  • Parent invoice sync

Online Collection

Clients pay installments through the same signed public payment page used for standard invoices, with no login required. When an invoice has an active plan, the page shows the full schedule with a pay button for each installment.

The page embeds your connected payment gateways, such as Stripe, PayPal and Razorpay, so clients choose their preferred method. For payments made outside the gateway, record offline payments against any installment manually.

The page uses your company branding, and clients receive payment confirmation for each installment collected.

Reporting & Visibility

Installment data feeds CrmLeaf's receivables and payment reporting. See outstanding installments across all active plans, filter by client, due date range or overdue status, and spot accounts that need follow-up.

Each installment payment is recorded as a standard payment in the payment ledger, so it appears in payment reports, receivables aging and cash-flow views alongside one-time invoice payments.

For project-linked invoices, installment collection progress is visible in the project financial summary, giving project and account managers one view of revenue collected per engagement.

FAQ

Common questions about EMI & installment plans in CrmLeaf

  • An EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) plan lets a client pay a large invoice in equal monthly installments instead of one lump sum. You record the principal, any down payment, the interest rate and the EMI amount, and CrmLeaf generates the schedule so collection can be tracked against it.
