How to Configure Holidays and Weekly Offs in CrmLeaf
All editions. Core feature - no add-on required.

Overview
Holidays are the non-working days your company observes, and weekly offs are the recurring non-working days in a week. Together they tell CrmLeaf which days are not working days. This affects the roster, attendance expectations, leave applications, and the utilisation views that draw on shifts, leaves and holidays.
How It Works
You record the company holidays for the year, configure which days of the week are non-working, then review both in the calendar and table views.
Configure weekly offs → Add company holidays → Review calendar and table views → Roster, attendance and leave respect non-working days
- Company holidays are specific dates. Weekly offs are recurring days of the week and are configurable, so you are not limited to a fixed weekend.
- The Holiday screen offers a calendar view for scanning the year and a table view for working through the list.
- Non-working days are the reference point for the roster and for leave, so employees are not expected to attend or to spend leave balance on days the company does not work.
- Where the Resource Utilization add-on is enabled, its views draw on shifts, leaves and holidays together.
Who Can Use This Feature?
Administrator
- Add, edit and delete company holidays.
- Configure which days of the week are weekly offs.
- Review the holiday calendar and table views for the year.
This functionality is available only to Administrators. Employees can view the holiday calendar for their company.
Prerequisites
- You have the confirmed list of holiday dates for the year.
- You know which days of the week your organisation treats as non-working.
For Administrators
Step 1: Open the holiday screen
What to do: Review the holidays already recorded for the year so you do not add duplicates.
What to verify: The holiday list or calendar opens for the current year.
Step 2: Configure the weekly offs
What to do: Set the days of the week that are non-working for your organisation. Select Save.
What to verify: The chosen days show as non-working in the calendar view.
Step 3: Add the company holidays
What to do: Select Add, enter the date and the holiday name, and select Save. Repeat for each holiday in the year.
What to verify: Each holiday appears on the correct date in the calendar view and in the table view.
Step 4: Cross-check against the roster
What to do: Open the shift calendar and confirm nobody is rostered on a newly added holiday unless you intend them to work it.
What to verify: The roster and the holiday configuration agree.
Field and Option Reference
| Field / Option | Description | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Holiday date | The specific non-working date. | Yes |
| Holiday name | The label shown on the calendar and in the table view. | Yes |
| Weekly offs | The recurring non-working days of the week for your organisation. | No |
Expected Result
The holiday is saved and appears in Holiday in both the calendar and table views, and the configured weekly offs show as non-working days across the year.
Service Organisation Context
Holidays and weekly offs decide which days a firm can actually deliver on, which is why they are worth entering before an engagement is planned rather than after. Where the Resource Utilization add-on module is enabled, its Availability and Capacity lenses draw on holidays together with shifts and leave, so an incomplete holiday list overstates the days a team has available. Service organisations working across more than one country usually confirm how their account handles holidays that differ by location before committing to a delivery date, since a client-facing plan built on the wrong calendar slips. Non-working days matter equally to site and production scheduling in other editions.
Important Notes
- Menu names and their position can differ between product editions and can be customised for your account, so your sidebar may not match these paths exactly. Use Search or your Quick Access items if you cannot find a screen.
- Configure holidays and weekly offs before the period starts, and before employees apply for leave in that period.
- Weekly offs are configurable. Do not assume Saturday and Sunday; set the days your organisation actually observes.
- Adding a holiday after a roster is built does not remove existing shift schedules on that date. Check the shift calendar afterwards.
Common Scenarios
Example: setting up the year in one session. Configure the weekly offs first so the calendar shows your working week, then enter each dated holiday. Finish by scanning the calendar view month by month to catch a date entered in the wrong month.
Example: an organisation with a single weekly off. Configure one day of the week as the weekly off. Employees then have a six-day working week for roster and leave purposes without any per-employee configuration.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| A holiday does not appear on the calendar. | The date was entered for a different year, or the record was not saved. | Open the table view, check the date and correct it. |
| Weekend days are treated as working days. | The weekly offs have not been configured. | Set the non-working days of the week and save. |
| Employees are rostered on a holiday. | The roster was built before the holiday was added. | Review the shift calendar and adjust the affected schedules. |
| Leave appears to consume a holiday. | The holiday or weekly off was configured after the leave was applied for. | Correct the holiday configuration and review the affected leave applications. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can weekly offs be different from Saturday and Sunday?
Yes. Weekly offs are configurable, so you set the days your organisation observes.
Can I view holidays as a list rather than a calendar?
Yes. The Holiday screen offers both a calendar view and a table view.
Do holidays affect leave balances?
Holidays and weekly offs define non-working days, which is the reference point for leave. Confirm how your account treats a holiday that falls inside a multi-day leave request.
