Overview
The Manufacturing CRM edition of CrmLeaf is built for manufacturers and fabricators who run vendors, bills of materials, production planning and procurement alongside their sales pipeline. It uses the same engine as every other CrmLeaf edition, but with its own onboarding checklist, navigation and vertical terminology. This article explains how to complete the nine-step Manufacturing onboarding so the account is ready for day-to-day work.
How It Works
The edition is selected when the account is created. New Manufacturing accounts are sent to the Manufacturing onboarding checklist, which is a progress-tracked list of nine setup steps. Each step deep-links to the screen where the work is done, and your progress is saved as you complete steps, so you can leave the checklist and return later.
Create account → Open the onboarding checklist → Complete the nine steps → Load sample data (optional) → Start operating
- Manufacturing accounts are seeded with sample data for warehouses, products, BOM and vendors, so you can explore a populated system before entering your own records.
- Completed steps are recorded against your account, so the checklist shows what is still outstanding.
- The checklist is gated to the Manufacturing CRM product type. Accounts on another edition cannot open it.
- The steps follow the operating order of the edition: master data first, then inventory, then production, then procurement.
Who Can Use This Feature?
Administrator
- Complete each onboarding step and configure the underlying settings.
- Enable the add-on modules the edition depends on.
- Decide whether to keep or remove the seeded sample data.
This functionality is available only to Administrators.
Prerequisites
- An account created with the Manufacturing CRM edition.
- Administrator access to the account.
- The Purchase and Manufacture add-on modules enabled, for the inventory, BOM and procurement steps.
- Your company details, units of measure, tax rates, warehouse list and vendor list available to enter.
For Administrators
Step 1: Complete the Org Profile step
What to do: Open the Manufacturing onboarding checklist and select the first step, Org Profile. Complete your company and organisation details, including the company name and address information, then Save.
What to verify: The step is marked as completed on the checklist.
Step 2: Configure Units & Tax
What to do: Set up the units of measure your materials and finished goods are counted in, and create the named tax rates you apply to sales and purchase documents.
What to verify: Every tax rate you use on quotes, purchase orders and invoices exists before you create documents.
Step 3: Set up CRM & Sales
What to do: Complete the CRM and sales step: review your pipelines and stages, and add your first lead contacts and clients so enquiries can be captured and worked as deals.
What to verify: A pipeline exists and a test deal can be created and moved between stages.
Step 4: Set up Warehouse & Inventory
What to do: Create the warehouses that hold your stock, recording the type, location, capacity, compliance information and the manager responsible for each one.
What to verify: Every physical stocking location you want to track separately exists as its own warehouse record.
Step 5: Set up Product & BOM
What to do: Add your raw materials, components and finished goods to the products catalogue, then build the bill of materials for the items you manufacture.
What to verify: Each product used in a BOM exists in the catalogue with its unit and tax rate.
Step 6: Add Vendors
What to do: Create a vendor record for each supplier, with the vendor name, currency, contacts and notes, and add a per-vendor price list where you have agreed pricing.
What to verify: Vendors you intend to send requests for quotation to are present and have contact details.
Step 7: Complete Production Planning
What to do: Set up the project that represents the work to be produced, and record its bill of quantities so the material demand is known.
What to verify: The project's BOQ lists the materials and quantities required.
Step 8: Complete Task & Material Requisition
What to do: Break the production work into tasks and raise a material requisition so materials are drawn from stock against the project or task.
What to verify: The requisition appears for approval and the requested materials are the ones on the BOQ.
Step 9: Complete Procurement
What to do: Run the purchasing side end to end: raise a purchase order for the shortfall, track its delivery, create the bill for the delivered order and record the vendor payment.
What to verify: All nine steps show as completed on the checklist.
Expected Result
All nine Manufacturing onboarding steps are completed. Your organisation profile, units and tax rates, CRM pipeline, warehouses, products and BOM, vendors, production plan, requisition workflow and procurement chain are configured, and the account is ready for live use.
Important Notes
- Menu names and their position can differ between product editions and can be customised for your account, so your sidebar may not match these paths exactly. Use Search or your Quick Access items if you cannot find a screen.
- The inventory, BOM, requisition and procurement steps depend on add-on modules. Confirm the Purchase and Manufacture modules are included in your plan before promising these workflows to your team.
- Sample data is provided so you can explore the flows. Review it before you go live so demo warehouses, products and vendors are not mistaken for real records.
- Work the steps in the order given. Later steps depend on data created in earlier ones, for example a BOM needs products and a purchase order needs a vendor.
Common Scenarios
Example: a fabricator setting up two plants. The Administrator completes Org Profile, Units & Tax and CRM & Sales, then creates one warehouse per plant at the Warehouse & Inventory step. Products and their BOM are added once and used by both plants, because stock is tracked per warehouse and product.
Troubleshooting

| The Warehouse & Inventory or Procurement step has no screen to open | The Purchase add-on module is not enabled | Enable the module for the account, then return to the checklist. |
| BOM and requisition screens are missing | The Manufacture add-on module is not enabled | Enable the module and confirm the role has access to it. |
| A step will not complete | A mandatory field on the underlying form is empty | Complete every mandatory field, Save, then re-open the checklist. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I complete the steps out of order?
You can, but later steps depend on records created earlier. The order given is the supported setup sequence.
Do I have to use the sample data?
No. It is offered so a new account starts populated and explorable. You can enter your own records instead.
Is the Manufacturing edition a different product?
No. All CrmLeaf editions run on one engine. The edition changes onboarding, navigation, terminology and which modules are switched on.
Can a User complete onboarding?
No. Onboarding configures company-level data and settings, so it is an Administrator task.
