Overview
Production planning in CrmLeaf is run on a project. The project's BOQ states the material demand, tasks carry the work, and finished goods are recorded against the project as production completes. Recording finished items also gives you a shortcut into the material side: a material requisition can be created directly from a project's finished items.
How It Works
You plan production by setting up the project and its BOQ, then breaking the work into tasks. As output is produced, you record the finished goods on the project. Those recorded finished items can then generate a material requisition, which enters the approval flow at pending_approval, so the material consumed by production is captured against the same project.

Prerequisites
- The Manufacture add-on module enabled for the account.
- A project representing the production run, with its BOQ entered.
- Products in the catalogue for both the materials consumed and the finished goods produced.
- Warehouse stock available, if the resulting requisition will draw material from stock.
For Users
Step 1: Set up the production project
What to do: Create or open the project for the production run. Add the members who will work on it and, where you bill by stage, create milestones for the stages you will invoice.
What to verify: The project has an owner, the correct client where one applies, and dates that match the production schedule.
Step 2: Confirm the BOQ is complete
What to do: Open the project's BOQ and confirm every material required for the run is listed with its planned quantity. This is the plan that consumption will later be measured against.
What to verify: The grouped BOM reflects the same quantities.
Step 3: Break the work into tasks
What to do: Create tasks for the production operations, attach them to the project and, where used, to a milestone, and assign them to the people doing the work. Time logged on these tasks is what timesheet and billing reports use.
What to verify: Every production operation has a task with an assignee and a date.
Step 4: Record the finished goods
What to do: As output is completed, record the finished items against the project, selecting the product produced and entering the quantity finished. Save the record.
What to verify: The recorded finished quantity matches what was physically produced, because it is the basis for the requisition you create next.
Step 5: Create a material requisition from the finished items
What to do: From the project's finished items, create a material requisition so the material used by that output is recorded against the project. The requisition is created at pending_approval.
What to verify: The new requisition appears in Material Requisitions awaiting approval, with the correct project and quantities.
Expected Result
The production project holds its BOQ, its tasks and a record of finished goods. A material requisition raised from those finished items is waiting at pending_approval, ready for an approver to action.
Important Notes
- Menu names and their position can differ between product editions and can be customised for your account, so your sidebar may not match these paths exactly. Use Search or your Quick Access items if you cannot find a screen.
- This feature depends on the Manufacture add-on module. Confirm it is included in your plan before you build a process around it.
- A requisition created from finished items is not yet approved. Material consumption is only reflected downstream once the requisition is approved.
- Only approved, unbilled requisitions are picked up by milestone invoicing, so approve requisitions before invoicing a completed milestone.
Common Scenarios
Example: a two-shift production run. The planner records finished goods at the end of each shift, then creates a requisition from the finished items so material consumption is captured shift by shift rather than at the end of the run. The project's BOQ utilisation then reflects actual progress.
Troubleshooting

Does recording finished goods change warehouse stock?
The documented stock movements are material requisitions, stock transfers, inventory adjustments and order dispatches. Recording finished goods is a production record on the project and drives the requisition created from it.
Can I record finished goods more than once for a project?
Yes. Output is recorded as it is completed, so a project can have several finished goods records.
Do I need milestones to run production?
No, but milestones let you group the tasks and invoice a completed stage directly from its billable work.
