Availability: Construction CRM edition only (internal product type construction, also referred to as "oconstruction"). The construction vertical is a paid add-on module that an Administrator must have enabled for your account. Confirm the vertical is included in your plan before you begin.

Overview

The Construction CRM edition is one of the five product editions CrmLeaf ships on a single engine. It is intended for builders, contractors and civil, MEP or interior firms that run multiple sites and bill against milestones. The edition changes the navigation, the onboarding checklist, the terminology and the seeded master data, while the underlying CRM, Projects, Invoicing, HR and Procurement engine stays the same.

This article explains what you receive when an account is created as a Construction account, and the order in which to set the account up.

How It Works

Every CrmLeaf account carries a product type that is set at signup. A Construction account is created through the edition's own signup and login funnel, and after signup you are taken to the construction onboarding checklist rather than the standard dashboard.

Sign up on the construction funnel Company created with product type construction Construction master settings seeded Work the 10-step onboarding checklist Run your first site

  • The Construction edition has its own signup and login pages, separate from the default login.
  • On creation, the account is seeded with the standard defaults (currencies, roles and permissions, shifts, settings, task boards, pipelines, custom fields, dashboard widgets and a default organisation) plus the construction vertical's own master settings.
  • Sample data can be loaded during onboarding so you can explore populated screens before entering real records.
  • Onboarding progress is stored per step, so you can leave the checklist and return to it.
  • The construction vertical keeps its own records for sites, surveys, assessments, financial data and maintenance, but reuses the shared solar installation screens for estimates, BOQ and BOM, subsidy schemes, and the shared installation, task, time log, expense and ticket screens.
  • Because of the edition's terminology mapping, those shared screens read as "Construction Assessment", "Construction Site", "Construction Estimate" and so on instead of the solar wording.

Who Can Use This Feature?

Administrator

  • Create the Construction account and complete the organisation profile.
  • Work through the 10-step construction onboarding checklist.
  • Confirm the construction vertical and any other add-on modules are enabled.
  • Configure construction master data, roles and permissions before inviting users.

This functionality is available only to Administrators.

Prerequisites

  • An account created on the Construction edition signup funnel, or an existing account whose product type is set to construction.
  • The construction vertical module enabled for the account.
  • Your company details, base currency and tax rates available to enter.
  • Any add-on modules you intend to use (for example Purchase for procurement, Budget for project budgeting) enabled for the account.

For Administrators

Step 1: Sign in through the Construction edition login

Open the Construction edition login page for CrmLeaf and sign in with the account you created. The Construction edition uses its own signup and login route, so signing in through the default login page is not the intended entry point for this edition.

What to verify: after signing in, you land on the construction onboarding checklist.

Step 2: Complete the organisation profile

What to do: complete the company record, including company name, address and branding. Then set your base currency and language, and your tax rates.

What to verify: the company name and logo appear on documents you generate later, such as estimates and invoices.

Step 3: Confirm the add-on modules you need

What to do: confirm the construction vertical is enabled, along with any add-on modules your delivery process needs. Procurement screens require the Purchase module. BOQ, BOM and RFQ screens require the manufacturing module. Project budgets require the Budget module.

What to verify: the corresponding screens appear in your navigation.

Step 4: Work through the onboarding checklist

What to do: complete the 10 construction onboarding steps in order. Each step deep-links to the screen it refers to, and your progress is saved as you complete each one. The checklist covers your organisation profile, construction master data, CRM records, construction sites, site surveys, construction assessments, estimates and BOQ, product and BOM, projects, and tasks.

What to verify: each completed step is recorded as complete on the checklist when you return to it.

Step 5: Configure construction master data and roles

What to do: review the construction master settings seeded with your account and adjust them to your own site types and terminology. Then create the roles your team needs and set the record visibility scope for each module.

What to verify: your own values appear as options when you create your first construction site.

Step 6: Invite your team

What to do: add employees and assign each one a role. Site engineers, surveyors, assessors, project staff and accounts staff usually need different record visibility scopes.

What to verify: each invited user can open the screens their role requires and no others.

Expected Result

Your account is running on the Construction CRM edition, construction master data is configured, the add-on modules you need are enabled, users are invited with the correct roles, and you can create your first construction site.

Important Notes

  • Menu names and their position can differ between product editions and can be customised for your account, so your sidebar may not match these paths exactly. Use Search or your Quick Access items if you cannot find a screen.
  • Many capabilities in this edition are paid add-on modules and must be enabled for the account before the screen appears at all. Confirm inclusion in your plan before planning a process around them.
  • The edition affects labels, navigation, onboarding and seeded data. It does not create a separate database or a separate product; your CRM, Projects, HR and Invoicing records behave the same as in other editions.
  • Several construction screens are the shared solar installation screens with construction wording. If a support article or a colleague refers to the "solar" version of a screen, it is the same screen.

Common Scenarios

Example: a contractor evaluating the edition. The Administrator signs up on the Construction funnel, loads the sample data offered during onboarding, and reviews a populated site, survey, assessment and estimate before entering any real project. The sample records are then replaced with the firm's own first live site.

Troubleshooting

IssuePossible CauseResolution
The construction screens are not in the sidebar. The construction vertical module is not enabled for the account, or the account's product type is not construction.Ask your Administrator to confirm the module is enabled and the account is on the Construction edition.
The onboarding checklist does not open after signing in.You signed in through a different edition's login route, or the checklist is already complete.Sign in through the Construction edition login. If every step is complete, the account goes to the dashboard instead.
A user cannot see sites created by colleagues.Their role's record visibility scope is set to their own records only.An Administrator adjusts the scope for that role to include the records the user needs.
Procurement or BOQ screens are missing. The Purchase or manufacturing add-on module is not enabled. An Administrator enables the module in module settings, subject to the plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an existing Worksuite account be switched to the Construction edition?

The product type is set when the company is created and drives the login funnel, onboarding and seeded master data. Contact your CrmLeaf representative before attempting a change on a live account.

Do I lose the general CRM and HR features in this edition?

No. The Construction edition runs on the same engine, so CRM, Projects, Tasks, Time Tracking, Invoicing, HR, Attendance, Leave and Support are still available, subject to your plan.

Why does a screen mention solar terms?

The construction vertical reuses the shared solar installation screens for estimates, BOQ and BOM and subsidy schemes. The edition's terminology mapping relabels them, but the underlying screen is shared.

Is the sample data safe to load?

Sample data is offered during onboarding so a new account starts populated. Load it only if you are willing to identify and remove the demo records later.
