Understanding CrmLeaf Product Editions

Overview
CrmLeaf is one platform sold as several editions. Every edition runs on the same engine and shares the same data model. What changes is the sign-up and sign-in experience, the guided onboarding checklist, the navigation layout, the terminology used on screen, and which add-on modules are switched on. Choosing an edition does not give you a different product; it gives you the same product arranged for a particular kind of business.
How It Works
Each account carries a product edition setting, chosen at sign-up. That single setting drives the rest.
Sign up on an edition → Edition-specific onboarding checklist → Edition menu layout and labels → Edition sample and master data seeded
- Each edition can have its own sign-up and sign-in pages.
- After sign-up you are directed to the matching guided onboarding checklist, and your progress is saved so you can leave and resume.
- Screen terminology adapts. The same assessment screen reads as "Solar Assessment" in the Solar edition and "Construction Assessment" in the Construction edition.
- Some editions seed starting data — the Solar edition creates predefined pipelines and solar master settings, the Construction edition seeds its master settings, and the Manufacturing edition can seed sample warehouses, products, bills of materials and vendors so you have something to explore.
The Editions
| Edition | Built for | Onboarding | Start here |
|---|---|---|---|
| PSA (the default all-in-one suite) | Agencies, professional services and general small and mid-sized businesses that want the complete suite | Standard sign-up | Getting Started with the PSA Edition |
| Payroll & HR | Organisations whose main need is workforce management, attendance, leave and payroll | 9 steps | How to Configure Your Company Profile and Branding |
| Solar CRM | Rooftop and ground-mount solar installers running sales through installation to annual maintenance | 9 steps | Getting Started with the Solar CRM Edition |
| Construction CRM | Builders and contractors managing multiple sites and milestone-based billing | 10 steps | Getting Started with the Construction CRM Edition |
| Manufacturing CRM | Manufacturers and fabricators managing vendors, bills of materials, production planning and procurement | 9 steps | Getting Started with the Manufacturing CRM Edition |
Additional industry variants exist, mapped from the industry picker at sign-up. These differ mainly in onboarding and labelling and otherwise behave like the standard suite.
The Payroll & HR edition's onboarding checklist has 9 steps: company profile, designations, departments, adding employees (at least two, besides the default Administrator), attendance and shift, leave settings, salary components, employee salary, and running payroll. The first six are documented in this manual — How to Configure Your Company Profile and Branding, How to Manage Designations, How to Manage Departments, How to Add and Manage Employees, How to Create Shifts and Assign Rosters together with How to Configure Attendance and QR Code Clock-In, and How to Configure Leave Types and Quotas. The last three steps — salary components, employee salary and running payroll — are part of core payroll processing, which is no longer documented in this manual (see Part 8's note); ask your CrmLeaf provider for guidance on those steps. Part 8 itself only covers what remains beyond initial setup: overtime policies, Tally sync and payroll reports.
Core Features and Add-On Modules
This distinction causes more support questions than any other, so it is worth being precise. Two things determine whether a screen exists for you:
- Your edition — some features are vertical-specific. Solar sites exist in the Solar edition; construction sites exist in the Construction edition.
- Your plan — many capabilities are paid add-on modules that must be included in your package and enabled before the screens appear at all.
| Generally core | Generally a paid add-on module |
|---|---|
| CRM and deals, estimates, proposals, contracts, invoicing, payments, expenses, orders and dispatch, projects, tasks, time tracking, human resources core, attendance, leave, tickets, knowledge base, material requisitions | Payroll, Recruitment, Performance, Biometric attendance devices, Purchase (procurement and warehouses), Manufacture (bills of materials, requests for quotation, production), Goods Return, Budget, Project Roadmap, Resource Utilization, Email Ticketing, and most third-party integrations |
Each article states its own requirement in the Availability block. Always trust that block over this summary.
Expected Result
You can name your edition, know which onboarding checklist applies to you, and know which parts of this manual to read and which to skip.
Important Notes
- Menu names and their position differ between editions and can be customised for your account, so your sidebar may not match paths in this manual exactly. Use Search or your Quick Access items if you cannot find a screen.
- If a feature described in this manual is missing entirely, the usual cause is that the add-on module is not included in your plan or has not been enabled. Ask your Administrator to check.
- The verticals are deliberately thin layers over one shared engine for projects, procurement and returns. That is why a Solar or Construction reader will spend most of their time in Parts 2 to 7 and only some in their own edition's part.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to pick the edition that exactly matches my industry?
No. The PSA edition contains the complete suite and is the right choice for most general businesses. The vertical editions add workflows specific to solar, construction or manufacturing work.
Can I use procurement features in the Solar or Construction edition?
Yes. Procurement, warehouses and returns are shared by all editions through the Purchase module, provided that module is enabled for your account. See Understanding the Procure-to-Pay Process.
Why does my colleague's sidebar look different from mine?
Two reasons: the menu layout can be configured per edition, and each user's permissions and pinned Quick Access items differ. See How to Configure Menu Layouts and Quick Access.
