Overview
Most solar sales depend on how the customer pays and what public support they qualify for. CrmLeaf holds this as company-configurable data: financing types describe the ways a customer can fund a system, and subsidy schemes hold the incentives available together with the eligibility rules that decide who qualifies. A financial plan then applies these to a specific job.
How It Works
An Administrator configures financing types and subsidy schemes once. Sales users then build a financial plan for a job, selecting the financing type and any applicable subsidy scheme, and the payment schedule for the job follows from that plan.
Configure financing types → Configure subsidy schemes → Set eligibility rules → Financial plan → Payment schedule
- Financing types are part of the configurable solar master data, alongside roof, permit, installation, inspection and maintenance types.
- Subsidy schemes carry eligibility rules, so the schemes offered to a customer can be narrowed to those they qualify for.
- The assessment's subsidy flag records that a subsidy is expected for a job. The scheme configuration is what defines the subsidy itself.
- Where the Budget module is enabled, the Solar budget template plans Incentives as one of its four lines alongside Equipment, Labour and Permits.
Who Can Use This Feature?
Administrator
- Configure the financing types your company offers.
- Create and maintain subsidy schemes and their eligibility rules.
- Retire schemes that are no longer open to new customers.
This functionality is available only to Administrators.
Prerequisites
- Administrator access to a Solar CRM account.
- Solar master data already reviewed. See How to Configure Solar Master Data.
- The current terms of the subsidy or incentive programmes you sell against, and the conditions customers must meet.
- Currency and tax configured for the account.
For Administrators
Step 1: Open the solar settings area
What to do: Open the solar settings area, where financing types and subsidy schemes are maintained alongside the other solar master data.
What to verify: Both the financing type list and the subsidy scheme list are visible.
Step 2: Configure the financing types
What to do: Add each way a customer can fund a system that your company actually supports. Delete seeded entries you do not offer, so sales users are not presented with options you cannot honour.
What to verify: The financing type is selectable when a financial plan is created for a job.
Step 3: Create the subsidy schemes
What to do: Select Add and create a scheme for each incentive programme you sell against. Record what the scheme provides and the period it applies to. Complete every mandatory field, then Save.
What to verify: The scheme appears in the list and can be selected on a financial plan.
Step 4: Set the eligibility rules
What to do: Record the eligibility rules for each scheme, so a customer is only offered a scheme they can actually claim. Base the rules on the site and system attributes you already capture, such as ownership, installation type and the design recorded on the assessment.
What to verify: A test job that should not qualify is not offered the scheme.
Step 5: Keep schemes current
What to do: Review schemes whenever a programme's terms change. Update the rules rather than editing quotations already issued, so historic jobs keep the terms they were sold on.
What to verify: New financial plans use the revised scheme.
Field and Option Reference
| Field / Option | Description | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Financing type | A way a customer can fund the system, from solar master data. | Yes |
| Subsidy scheme | An incentive programme the company sells against. | Yes |
| Eligibility rules | The conditions a job must meet to qualify for the scheme. | Yes |
| Financial plan | The per-job record applying financing and subsidy to a specific system. | Yes for the payment schedule |
Expected Result
Your financing types match what your company offers, each subsidy scheme you sell against exists with its eligibility rules, and sales users can build a financial plan and payment schedule for a job from them.
Important Notes
- Menu names and their position can differ between product editions and can be customised for your account, so your sidebar may not match these paths exactly. Use Search or your Quick Access items if you cannot find a screen.
- All of this data is company-configurable, so it is your responsibility to keep it aligned with the programmes actually open in your market.
- The Construction CRM edition reuses the same subsidy scheme screens, so a change made in a shared screen should be considered in the context of your edition.
- Project budgeting, including the Incentives line of the Solar budget template, requires the Budget add-on module.
Common Scenarios
Example: a residential-only incentive. A programme is open only to owner-occupied rooftop installations. The Administrator creates the scheme and sets eligibility rules around ownership and installation type. A commercial ground-mount job is then never quoted with a subsidy the customer could not have claimed.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| A scheme is not offered on a financial plan | The job does not meet the scheme's eligibility rules | Check the site and assessment attributes the rules test |
| The financing type list is empty | Financing types have not been configured | Configure them in the solar settings area |
| A scheme cannot be deleted | Existing financial plans reference it | Stop offering the scheme instead of deleting referenced data |
| A User cannot configure schemes | Settings are Administrator-only | Ask an Administrator to make the change |
